Samsonov's hunting knife (also Samsonov's dagger, Samsonov's bear knife, Samsonov's bear dagger) is a super-strong hunting knife that was made in an artisanal way by the Tula craftsman Yehor Petrovich Samsonov from the 70s of the XIX century until 1930. Knives manufactured by Samsonov were distinguished by high reliability and durability and were popular. The appearance of the Samsonov knife was developed by the hunter Mykhailo Volodymyrovych Andrievskyi, gamemaster of the High Court (Grand Duke Mykola Mykolayovych the Younger. Samsonov knives were made of "English carriage springs" - the same steel. The technological process of making the knife does not represent anything significantly new. The secret of Samov and the release of the blade Pri vacation requires exact observance of the temperature regime, and a change in temperature even by a few degrees leads to a significant change in the physical qualities of the knife, since Samsonov did not have any devices, so he determined the temperature by the color of the glow of red-hot metal.

"Spring steel was annealed in a blacksmith's furnace, where birch or oak coal was loaded. Air was supplied by hand fur. Then the red-hot leaves went straight on the anvil. Blades were prepared from them by manual metalworking method. After that, all parts were subjected to cementation, regeneration, hardening, tempering and aging. Blanks of blades were placed in an oblong groove made in the corner of the burning furnace. They were filled with carburetor and charcoal from above and below. All this was heated to 900-925 degrees and kept for 4-5 hours, with the calculation that at 1:00 carbon penetration into the part occurs to a depth of 0.1 mm. After cooling, the workpieces were heated to 900 degrees, but without a carburetor. Within 3 hours, regeneration of the cemented grain took place, i.e. uniform distribution of carbon over the entire surface of the part. Then each of them plunged into a bath of oil. The half-cooled blanks were kept in the air until a blue color appeared, that is, until the vacation temperature of 300-325 degrees. Then they were again immersed in an oil bath, where they cooled, and immediately they were reheated to a temperature of 150-175 degrees, keeping in this mode for 12 hours. After cooling, all parts were wiped with rags and subjected to final mechanical processing. The cutting edges of the hunting knife fell on the donkey."
